Standardization is the Engineering Common Ground of STEM which allows for widespread inter-operability in Industry, Technology and Design.
Coding Exists in Standardized and Un Standardized lines.
Just as coding also exists with compiled (hardware specific) and interpreted (non hardware specific) more fluid builds. For the current evolving definitions we will work with compiled vs. interpreted languages and then update terminology to strengthen approach as needed.
ISO Standardized lines include C++ SQL and older languages like ADA, Fortan, Cobol and more. We will be back with more to the lines
For now you can learn more at ISO http://www.iso.org/iso/products/standards/catalogue_ics_browse.htm?ICS1=35&ICS2=060
